“FENIX facilitates networking and the collaboration among its platforms. From a digitalisation point of view, FENIX goes where no one has gone before and tackles the fragmentation that currently exists in the field of transport and logistics. Connectivity among platforms within the FENIX federation of platforms makes visualising shipping details easier and enhances the coordination of the different steps along the supply chain.” Dr. Eusebiu Catana, FENIX Project coordinator
FENIX was conceived as a concretisation of the European Commission’s Digital Transport and Logistic Forum (DTLF) recommendations that aimed to create a viable and valid federative network of platforms as enabler for Business to Administration (B2A) and Business to Business (B2B) data exchange and sharing by transport and logistics operators.
The main objectives the FENIX Consortium has been working to achieve are:
FENIX involves 11 pilot sites on 9 TEN-T corridors and a total of 45 beneficiaries. The project seeks to support the transition to seamless data sharing, initially testing its features in the selected pilot sites. One of the main implementing points of FENIX is the standardisation and digitalisation of data exchange.
FENIX architecture rely upon a decentralised approach, where each participant and platform are considered nodes of the network. This means each party has internal control and is able to interoperate with all the other parties. FENIX is composed of platforms, data assets and services, which are made available for secured consumption or sharing via the federated network.
At TRA 2022 in Lisbon, FENIX will showcase its federated architecture for data sharing in a series of events including presentations at the ALICE booth on the following days:
