[Webinar] Integration of Passenger and Freight Transport
Wednesday, April 16th, 2025

As urban areas continue to face increasing congestion and environmental challenges, innovative solutions are required to optimize transport efficiency. One such approach is the integration of passenger and freight transport, leveraging shared infrastructure and mobility services to enhance sustainability, reduce emissions, and improve service levels. This webinar will explore real-world applications of this concept, focusing on three ongoing R&I projects: DELPHI, URBANE and ULTIMO. This webinar also invites practitioners to present applications of the concept in real life operation.
Objectives
- To present innovative solutions that integrate passenger and freight transport.
- To highlight lessons learned from the DELPHI, URBANE and ULTIMO projects.
- To explore policy and operational implications for urban mobility stakeholders.
- To foster discussions on future collaboration and scalability of these concepts
Featured Projects
- DELPHI – Use Case in Madrid
- Focuses on use of urban rail network (metro) for the last mile delivery.
- Examines business models and regulatory frameworks that support co-modality.
- URBANE – Use Case in Karlsruhe
- Focuses on testing and evaluating the impact of using automated delivery vehicles (ADVs) using of urban rail network (tram) for the last mile delivery
- ULTIMO
- Explores how autonomous passenger transport can be extended to urban freight logistics.
- Aims to optimize shared mobility solutions for increased sustainability.
Expected Outcomes
- Increased awareness of integrated passenger and freight transport solutions.
- Insights into operational and policy challenges in implementing co-modality.
- Identification of opportunities for further research and collaboration.
