Paper-based documents, fragmented information and various system silos contribute to inefficiencies in freight transport and logistics. These inefficiencies relate to delays, uncertainties, higher administrative costs as well as unnecessary emissions. To tackle such problems, the European Commission has set up the Digital Transport and Logistics Forum (DTLF) consisting of more than 100 experts in the field. The DTLF supports and contributes to the development and implementation of the new eFTI regulation that will be mandatory for members states from 2025. This regulation relates to transport information required by the national and EU legislation that concerns various cargo types being transported by different modes of transport (rails, inland waterways, roads, etc.).
More specifically, eFTi will include 1) single data definitions for representing freight transport information, 2) interoperable platforms for recording and sharing data/information and 3) common procedures/rules for authorities to access information on individual eFTI platforms. As our ALICE members are active in all stages of freight transport and logistics, it will be imperative to gain a better overview of how the eFTi will be operating within the landscape of existing rules and standards, with the goal of ensuring universal connectivity.
The main objective of the webinar is to create a common understanding of how to incorporate eFTI in daily business and what the companies should plan and do as next steps. The content of the webinar will thus relate to discussion points such as:
This webinar is open to ALICE and none-ALICE members.
