Insights from the third Co-Creation Arena of the Dutch Use Case in MODI
Wednesday, December 11th, 2024
On 3 December 2024, ALICE participated in the third Co-Creation Arena (CCA) for the Dutch Use Case of the MODI project, held at A.P. Moller – Maersk and APM Terminals in The Hague, the Netherlands. This engaging event brought together logistics and technology stakeholders to explore the transformative potential of Connected, Cooperative, and Automated Mobility (CCAM) in logistics.
The overarching aim of the CCA was to go beyond the technological aspects of CCAM and explore its implications for business models, stakeholder interests, and implementation strategies. With this in mind, the day consisted of two interactive workshops:
Integration of CCAM in logistics practice Participants explored the efforts required to implement CCAM solutions within logistics operations and the expected impact. This included discussions on how CCAM could redefine logistics strategies and drive digital transformation.
Roles and business models related to CCAM This session explored future scenarios for CCAM, including evolving business models, ownership structures, and stakeholder roles. The discussion highlighted the need to consider new partnerships and collaborations to enable the successful deployment of CCAM technologies.
It became clear that the impact of CCAM extends far beyond driverless vehicles. Its adoption will likely lead to the development of new roles, enhanced digitalisation, and significant operational changes across the logistics sector.
The event highlighted the importance of collaborative innovation in addressing regulatory, technological, and societal barriers to CCAM deployment. A special thanks to APM Terminals for hosting and supporting these vital discussions.

About the MODI project
The MODI project, funded under the Horizon Europe framework, aims to accelerate the deployment of SAE Level 4 automated driving technologies in logistics. By demonstrating CCAM solutions along a corridor from Rotterdam to Moss, Norway, MODI addresses technical, regulatory, and operational challenges to support the future of automated freight transport in Europe.
