POLIS-ALICE webinar series: Mixed use of Urban Space for City Logistics

Tuesday, March 18th, 2025

As urban populations grow and urban flows expand, cities are facing increasing pressure to balance the demands of mobility, logistics, and public space. Traditional zoning and infrastructure models may fail to accommodate the evolving needs of both urban logistics and dynamic public life, leading to congestion, inefficiencies, and conflicts over space use. To address these challenges, cities must adopt innovative approaches that allow logistics activities to coexist seamlessly with public functions, ensuring that urban spaces remain functional, liveable and welcoming.

This webinar explores strategies for optimising urban areas by integrating logistics functions into the urban fabric while maintaining accessible and engaging public spaces. Key topics include multi-functional infrastructure, time-based space sharing, relevant digital tools, and policy frameworks that enable efficient goods movement without compromising liveability. By bringing together experts, researchers, logistics experts, policymakers, and urban planners, this webinar aims to highlight best practices, emerging trends, and actionable solutions for more resilient and adaptable cities.
This webinar is an opportunity for city representatives, policy makers and logistics operators to learn more about the ongoing work carried out by the EU-funded projects DISCO and UNCHAIN.
