SENSE project: Accelerating the path towards Physical Internet Kicked-off
Tuesday, October 17th, 2017
The Physical Internet is a concept envisioning an open logistics system which pursues physical, digital and operational interconnectivity trough clustering data, interfaces, protocols. SENSE project coordinated by ALICE aims to define a Roadmap to the Physical Internet translating the academic vision into practical steps that need to be taken to build the Physical Internet. The Physical Internet is expected to bring efficiency, agility and resilience to the logistics networks by creating seamless interconnectivity and in particular to boost co-modal transport services on a European level, within a well synchronized, intelligent and seamless network, and thereby give optimal support to supply chains.
GOALS
-
- To reach a broad consensus about the Physical Internet and the road map
- To build a strong methodology to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the Physical Internet
- To establish a Physical Internet knowledge platform
- To achieve a better alignment between stakeholders (EU members states, the European Commission, etc.) and to promote a stronger cooperation with P.I.-initiatives in the U.S. and Asia.
